Designer home makes perfect backdrop for an intimate birthday party

Bergner & Koch were delighted to be asked by renowned artist and interior design superstar Matt Martino to help celebrate his 40th birthday party at his Glen Iris family home. With Matt’s eye for detail and B&K’s love for food and drink, it was a party that was bound to be memorable for all involved. The team worked side-by-side to invent a beautiful menu for the night, one that would mirror Matt’s individuality and creativity.

When the guests arrived on the day, they were greeted with a celebratory Peach Belini or White Rum Mojito and directed to the garden where the party was set to begin. The menu was filled with delicious treats that included canapés, warm duck and tossed asian greens salad, marinated king prawns with Kaffier lime and a selection of Red Hill cheeses. It was in the garden where the birthday speeches were made and the guests were told that the party would then move up to the cobblestone shed located at the back of the Martino property where dinner would be served.

As guests entered the shed they were greeted by generous plates of beautifully roasted Otway pork and organic lamb with roasted vegetables. The following photos were taken in the shed where B&K individually hung forty of Matts favorite photos from the roof, subtly light by the hundreds of tealight candles and little paper lanterns that illuminated the space. ImageImage

It all starts with a fold

Struggling for ideas of how to individualise your event or party? The gang at B&K have it sorted.
With backgrounds in the arts, both Grace & Josh are more than happy to get their creative juices flowing and make your event a truly memorable experience by reflecting your distinctive style. You would have recently read the post about the customised Bunting they created for the NYE party in Maldon, but it doesnt stop there.
Recently B&K were approached to come up with an art installation to be shown on the walls of Coin Laundry Cafe. After a lot of thought and consideration the team went with the idea of dotting the walls with small, handmade origami paper cranes, an idea they had after seeing an installation piece in a Balinese art gallery where the roof was entirely covered with large white paper cranes.
To put a distinctive spin on this idea, it was decided that the cranes would be made in the colours of the cafes business card. B&K’s installation can now be found on many blogs and was also featured in Este, an online design and interiors magazine.
